MAGNIFICAT
VIVALDI C.P.E.BACH PERGOLESI
Concetrto for Two Trumpets in C: Vivaldi
Join one of Melbourne's leading choirs in a glorious concert featuring three exquisite settings of the
Magnificat and one of the most famous double concertos ever composed.
The Magnificat is the Virgin's joyous prayer in response to hearing that she will bear the Son of God.
This hymn has inspired composers through the centuries, including Vivaldi (1678-1741),
Pergolesi (1710-1736) and C.P.E.Bach (1714-1788), and will be performed in the stunning
setting of All Saints' Church, St Kilda East.
Vivaldi's famous Double Concerto in C Major for Two Trumpets and Strings is a festive work, notable for its
beautiful melodies and virtuosic solo passages. Showcasing the talents of two of Melbourne's brightest
young instrumental stars, this work is a fitting complement to the granduer of the three Magnificat
setting.
